1. Get Off Birth Control
Some might think this is a given, however your body needs to return back to its natural state, it is a good idea to get off birth control at least a few months before you intend to officially start trying to conceive. Most doctors recommend at least a 9 month period between stopping birth control and starting conception efforts.
2. Begin Charting
It is not uncommon for your body to need a number of cycles to start ovulating again once your off birth control. This is the optimum time to begin to chart your monthly cycles and start to take your daily basal body temperature. By tracking your cycles you will learn how many days your cycle typically has, then you will have the ability to recognize your symptoms of ovulation. Keep in mind, not all woman have exactly 28 day’s in their cycle; charting will help you to determine how many days are normal for you.
3. Know Your Ovulation Cycle
With a well kept chart of your cycle, you will soon be able to judge when you ovulate more accuratly. To clear up any confusion that you might have with this process, look at using an ovulation monitor, or an ovulation predictor kit (OPK). Ovulation predictor kits are used to find high levels of LH in the woman’s urine. The luteinizing hormone (LH) level surges right before ovulation. A fertility monitor is yet another way to help you get pregnant faster. Although a bit more expensive than ovulation predictor kits, fertility monitors read a multitude of hormone levels, not just LH. With being able to predict your ovulation properly, you are then able to time intercourse to better your chances of getting pregnant faster. Once you have a positive result on the OPK or fertility monitor, you should have sex that same day and then again over the course of the following two days.
4. Perfect Your Timing
It’s a fact, one of the fastest ways to conceive and get pregnant faster is to time it right. There are only so many days a month in which you are in your most fertile state. Having sexual intercourse before you begin ovulation is most effective because your egg will only survive about 24 hours after you begin ovulating. In order to ‘catch the egg’, your partner’s sperm should already be in your system and moving towards your fallopian tubes. The sperm will usually have a life expectancy of roughly two to three days, however some have been known to live up to five days. Another good rule to follow is to have sex every two days following the tenth day of your cycle.
5. Lifestyle Enhancement
Of all the different ways to get pregnant faster, improving your current lifestyle is most probably the easiest. Cut back on eating junk food and try to follow a fertility-enhancing diet. Quit smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages too. This goes for both you and your partner in order to greater your chances of getting pregnant fast.
